I found that the people watching was more fun than most of the art as we were surrounded by fabulosity from all over the world and much pretentious wanna be fabulosity that was a hoot to watch too. Less than a nano second my husband and I jumped a foot back away from said painting as we had been scrutinizing it at a distance of say, 6 inches. The attendant claimed it was already sold, the gentleman asked how much it sold for and the attendant said nonchalantly «Two Million». I dont remember the name of the artist but it was monochromatic and pretty dull from the 1950’s. In all seriousness, when can you get three (or more) Alexander Calder mobiles hanging up close and personal next to a couple of Miros and a Picasso? Calder is one of my favorite artists ever, I was SO HAPPY! We actually were standing in front of a painting of vases that measured about 1 foot by 1 foot, a pretty boring painting actually and heard someone ask the attendant how much was it selling for. I realized then and there you can cover dog poo in crystals and dog poo would look fantastic! What? A couple of hundreds of thousands of dollars for the pile? I will take it! My house needs bling. ![]() Ok, so I admit that some of the art left me scratching my head confused hoping to find the artist knowing that sometimes it just takes understanding the thought process behind it.
